And each face is the public window into that story. When I paint a stranger's portrait, I wonder about that person's life. In this body of work, the subject of each portrait is a real person, but the biographical story is what I imagine. It is my hope that this combination encourages others to see people more deeply.

Hey there, I’m Ian and I’m excited you stopped by to check out my website. It has been a long time in coming. I’ve always loved art, but after a tragic accident my passion for painting portraits was born. During a long recovery and hours spent in busy waiting rooms, I found inspiration from people watching. Even though everyone does it, I’ve taken people watching to another level. When I paint someone, I think about their story. My body of work is unique because each portrait includes a fictional biography about the subject. When you view the gallery be sure to click “more info” to read their story.
This summer 2023, I’ll be relocating to a short term residential property for neurodiverse young adults (people like me). Their goal is to support our launch to independence. While there, I hope to continue to paint and add to my website with the long term goal of making this my career. In addition to my expanding people watching exhibit, I do commissioned work. Recently, I've added a Zazzle store, to make merchandise available. To help me get started, donations for any amount are welcome. As a thank you, you’ll receive a downloadable e-book of 18 portraits and their stories. I encourage you to share the e-book with friends and family who are unfamiliar with my work. Please share my website and check back often. You are the best! ~ Ian |

I had a chance to exchange portraits with the British artist, Wilfred Wood. Here are the four portraits Wilfred painted of me.
To the right is the portrait I painted of Wilfred.
