And each face is the public window into that story. When I paint a stranger's portrait, I wonder about that person's life. In this body of work, the subject of each portrait is a real person, but the biographical story is what I imagine. It is my hope that this combination encourages others to see people more deeply.

On July 1 I’ll be moving to Sedona Lago Gardens in Sedona, Arizona. It’s a new short-term residential property for neurodiverse young adults (people like me) to launch their independence. Independence has always been my #1 goal! The place is super-expensive, though, so I’m hoping to sell some art to help the cause.
I would be so grateful for your support. You can support me by just forwarding my website to anyone you know, especially if they’d be interested in some sort of commissioned piece. If you do choose to make a donation, for any amount, you’ll receive a downloadable e-book of 18 portraits and their stories. Perhaps you can pay it forward and share the e-book with friends and family who are unfamiliar with my work. My passion for painting portraits was born out of tragedy. During a long recovery and hours spent in busy waiting rooms, I found inspiration from people watching. My work is unique because each painting is enhanced to include a fictional biography of the subject. You are the best! ~ Ian |
I had a chance to exchange portraits with the British artist, Wilfred Wood. Here are the four portraits Wilfred painted of me.
To the right is the portrait I painted of Wilfred.
